Sonar6 - the Bendelta Competency Library

Quick Start & the Bendelta Competency Library

What happens when you combine Sonar6's world leading technology with a library of information from Bendelta, gurus of competency and performance?

You get Quick Start - a performance management system that you can set up in 20 minutes!

Based in Sydney, Australia, Bendelta is an advisory firm of experts from a variety of fields - from business strategists to mathematicians and psychologists. They have invested thousands of hours of research, evaluation and validation in answering the question: how can a library of KPIs and competencies be created that will suit almost every job, company and culture in the world, but still be easy to use?

The Bendelta Library is the answer to that question. And Quick Start is the engine that brings the library to life.

With Quick Start:

  • You tailor the tool by choosing from a range of common roles and associated competencies.
  • The system takes into account your company type and industry, so it'll make sense to your people.

The Bendelta Library enables you to choose from:

20 role types, each with:

  • 3 of the most commonly used KPIs for that role
  • 3-5 competencies that best predict superior performance in that role

32 competencies in total, each with:

  • 4 key behavioural indicators
  • Development techniques to build strong competencies and address weak ones

4 Voices Choices, so that the competencies use the style of language that best suits your culture (Practical, Punchy, Professional, or Progressive)

So how did the Bendelta team develop such a powerful yet simple library? As Bendelta Director Anthony Mitchell explains, "This was almost the perfect challenge - it required a sophisticated and complex methodology but had to produce something very simple and intuitive".

The Bendelta Library makes traditional competency libraries obsolete by:

  • Providing 32 straightforward, universal competencies that describe core requirements across the world of work
  • Using Sonar6 technology to keep forever up-to-date by incorporating feedback based on usage patterns - as trends emerge regarding which competencies matter most for each role type, the recommended competencies update automatically
  • Being accessible: instead of being expensive and proprietary, any company can utilise the library in minutes - no need for competency licensing fees or technical training
  • Providing options: instead of having one set to choose from, the unique Voices Choices mean that you not only have the right competencies but also in the language and style that suits your organisation and culture
