I was talking to a CEO yesterday about the difference, in the contribution to her top table discussions, between the CFO and the HR Director. She pulled no punches: “HR is not that good at summarising and predicting.”

She went on to explain how they had started benchmarking top line metrics in staff churn and absenteeism, which they would review in conjunction with staff survey results… but still none of it adequately described what was really happening amongst the people. Maybe absenteeism was up because of the flu, or maybe it was up because that popular manager left. In fact she felt that she learned more by “taking a walk around”.

Sonar Labs: Version 2.2 features - 360 reviews

Sonar6 Version 2.2 is now live and offers a range of exciting new features - including the ability to perform 360° reviews.

Are your team members doing a lot of work for other departments around the organisation? Using the 360° review option, you can increase the relevance of reviews by inviting others to have their say. Anyone can be invited to review: managers, team members, even people from outside of the organisation - whoever you think may have some valuable input.

Ask your Sonar6 representative about enabling the features in Sonar6 v2.2 for your organization. If it is not enabled users will see no change to the current tools.

Sonar6 Labs: Report printing

Next time you click the Sonar6 print button you will notice a small but significant change… You now have the option to print an entire report on any individual in your organization.

This can be useful at any point during an appraisal, but particularly at the end of the process when you may want to present findings or to have a hard copy for your files.

We encourage everyone to consider the environment before printing any material - after all with Sonar6’s employee features you can share appraisal information effortlessly on the web - but we also know that sometimes there’s simply no substitute for good old fashioned paper-based reports!

The much anticipated Version 2 of Sonar6 is released. New Performance Management features include:

  • Self Assessment. Employees can now have their own input into their review, can view their managers’ ratings of their performance, and build their own development plans online.
  • Individual Goals. Specific performance goals can be set by the manager or by the employee themselves.
  • HR Tools. New tools are available that help HR departments schedule assessments, report on completion, and automatically email staff.
