The Sonar6 Values
March 18th, 2008
Sonar6 is built on three simple tenets. We thought it was about time they went on the wall…
Does it make the boat go faster. The biggest prize in sailing is the Americas Cup. There is a rumor that one of the challenging teams put up a big sign in their base that read: Does it make the boat go faster? It was their way of making sure they were always focused. Any activity they were going to do they would first ask the question “will doing this make the boat go faster”. If it didn’t it wasn’t worth doing. At Sonar6 we love that straightforward approach. Do stuff to get customers. Do stuff to keep customers. Not much else is important.
A sense of magic. Remember that feeling when you opened up a pop-up-book as a kid and something extraordinary happened. When people use Sonar6, or visit our website, or deal with our people, even the tiniest piece of magic will make a positive difference to their day.
The Extra 5%. Okay, so sports analogies are old hat, but… the difference between a good athlete and a great athlete is that the great athlete trains about 5% harder. Find best practice then go 5% further. Support your workmates and your customers to go 5% more.

What I like about your core values, is its simplicity and to the point. Its something everyone can understand and it demonstrates the “down to earth” culture Sonar6 seems to portray.
This is a far cry from the corporate environment I run into in NY city, so reading your values was very refreshing.
